Bing Maps has recently changed their StreetView look giving desktop browsers a significant enhancement. For months, Microsoft has been planning this major change after knowing the difficulty users have especially when they are in search for larger areas. Microsoft establishes an immersive panoramic map viewing allowing users to feel as if they are actually in the area. Street level photography is very evident in Bing's Maps. You can virtually walk sideways and business listings, street names and store fronts are being over-layed. You can find locations and business easily with Bing's flattened street-level images, navigating this one gigantic panorama.
Experience New York Street View or San Francisco . Before, Bing provides what they call Bubbles, 360 Bubbles of places in maps. If you want to move from one place to another, you need to jump from one bubble to another, which by the way is only effecient in small areas. Users reportedly are having a hard time reading business names of far places since only those that are perpendicular to your viewpoint are with great clarity. Today, Microsoft has made necessary improvements particularly the StreetView. They also mentioned in their blog that, "This new style, on the other hand, keeps the immersive experience but adds smooth left/right panning navigation that makes it easy to find what’s nearby more quickly. The street flows by as a series of smooth ground-level photographs so now you simply pan up and down the street to see the neighborhood and find what you are looking for."
U-Turn Icon The U-turn icon allows you to see the other side of the street without having to physically navigate the other way around. The icon can be found in the upper left corner of the image, just beside the street name. Tracking Map While you track your way to the location you wish to find, you can track yourself easily by referring to map above your panorama. Here you can see street and business names overlay everwhere. Try Bing Maps 360-Degree Panoramic StreetView now!
