Google by far is the most popular to utilize 360-degree photography in its Maps and Street View which by the way, (even having privacy suites from people) has been very helpful in different industries today. It has helped travellers go around places easily, help teachers relay geography studies to students interactively, provide great promotional tool specifically for the tourism and real estate industry with virtual tours and 360-degree panoramic photography. We can go on and on listing the benefits of this amazing technology but for now, we want to emphasize one great benefit just recently discovered and introduced by creative photographers: photography in 360-degree photography. Who would know? Although we sure did have photographers riffing on GSV and Google Earth, this is considered one of newest form of photojournalism. Michael Wolf brought this art in February as he captures Google’s Street View accidental scenes open on his computer’s browsers. This has instantly brought the attention of the industry on his brilliant portfolio called, “A Series Of Unfortunate Events” in the World Press Photo Awards. Under the Contemporary Issues category, his works started a debate among photographers whether or not his was pure photojournalism. The British Journal of Photography said that according to Wolf, “It's a real file that I have, I'm not taking a screenshot. I move the camera forward and backward in order to make an exact crop, and that's what makes it my picture. It doesn't belong to Google, because I'm interpreting Google; I'm appropriating Google." He left us an opportunity though when he said, “"I think it’s extremely interesting what artists are doing with Google Street View, Google Earth, GPS and Twitter. It's one of the important functions of art, to interpret contemporary issues." Here are some of his works, “A Series Of Unfortunate Events”:
