If you are a shoe e-retailer and big one, and you’re trying to come up with ways to showcase every pair of shoes you have in stock to your customers in the most simplest, coolest and advanced way, Intel’s dazzling virtual footwear wall featuring 360 degree photography is what you need. It was back in January at the 2011 National Retail Federation’s convention in New York that we were told about the Adidas Virtual Footwear Wall that can potentially store as many 8,000 shoes at shopper’s fingertips. They are bringing e-retialing and mall altogether this time. This time however we are given the chance to up close and try it ourselves as it has gone live at the sports store Oxford Street in London. The world’s first Intel Virtual Footwear Wall installment is also the launch of the new Adidas adiZero f50 miCoach football shoes.
This virtual wall renders products in 3D and in 360 degree product photography. This means shoppers can spin, zoom in and out on the shoes, and actually read and explore specs from a touch-screen display monitor wall. Not only that, Adidas was also able to provide various information about every shoe like how the F50-clad feet scored 44 goals in the 2010 World Cup educating shoppers at the same time, establishing customer brand loyalty. According to the Vice President for Global Retail Marketing for Germany-based Adidas, Chris Aubrey, when asked about the advantages of their adiVerse Virtual Footwear Wall, “Footwear sales in general are bouncing back after taking a hit during the global melt-down of 2008. We had a very good 2010. I think consumer confidence is back."
He concluded in an interview that with the virtual footwear wall, “We've leveled the playing field for small retailers. They can now act like a big flagship store in a town like New York. Not to mention the fact that the installation turns flat walls into prime selling space.” |
