On 13^th May 2010, Skype launched its latest beta version which included the group video calling feature. In today’s virtual world contacting a beloved has never been a problem whether it is via our phones, mobiles or video chat online. But with this ease there are also certain limitations of not being able to contact everyone at the same time. Few years ago, mobile companies solved this issue by introducing the conference call features to the mobiles. This feature enabled us to call and talk to more than one person at a time. This feature was greatly welcomed in both corporate world as well as our daily lives.

After the introduction of conference call by the mobile companies, the corporate world took advantage and the conference video call was introduced for their ease using which they were able to video talk to one person or a group of people from various parts of the world. This way execute of a multinational company, around the world were able to hold a meeting and take part in it from their respective office without any barrier. However, despite all the advancements in this respect in corporate world, this feature was still lacking for the common man.

Just imagine that you were living abroad with most of your relatives in another country or even different cities of the same country. Now your son was going to celebrate his first birthday and you wished your grandparents and other close relatives/cousins were with you to celebrate the occasion but were unable to do so due to the distance between you and them. Seeing this Skype realized the need for group video calling and launched the feature for its users.

Using the feature you can invite up to 5 people for a group video call and enjoy the occasion with them as if they were with you at that moment without leaving your home. Although, the new Skype is still in beta version and expected to have some rough edges till the time it is perfected but it is still a great new feature nonetheless. If you want the best results then make sure that you have a fast internet connection which doesn’t have the capability of being congested at odd times.
