Heartscape™: 360-Degree Electrocardiographic View Of The Heart

Last Aug 19, 2011 in Europe, Verathon Inc. launched their newest ECG System for Emergency Department (nurses and physicians) or Interventional Cardiologists to get a 360 degree electrocardiographic view of the heart in epic 3D -the Heartscape™.

The Heartscape™ will help physicians identify Myocardial Infarction (MI) on patients including MIs without ST-segment elevation on traditional 12-lead ECGs and Left Bundle Branch Block (LBBB). In fact, the average total number of ischemic cardiopathy death in Europe was over 693,000 from 2007-2009 with France having an approximate of 100,000 patients diagnosed with myocardial infarction.Although the earlier ECG system PRIME® ECG technology uses the same diagnostic algorithm technology as Heartscape™, the former guarantees to provide eary diagnosis detecting acute MIs that are most often than not missed by traditional 12-lead ECGs.

According to Gerald McMorrow, Verathon Inc. CEO, "Emergency physicians and Interventional Cardiologists told us that more definitive ECG information could help them identify high-risk cardiac patients more quickly, when seconds count. By offering a 360 degree view of the electrical activity of the heart, Heartscape is designed to help healthcare providers assess the patients' status faster and accelerate their treatment. We believe that with more accurate diagnosis, better outcomes and lower costs are the result."

The Heartscape 360-degree Exam has three exam options for patients to choose:

anatomical tracing from 80 leads
anatomical tracing from 12 leads
Heartscape 360 degree Exam - ST Elevation (STEMI), ST Depression, NSTEMI, and other heart abnormalities in an easy-to-read, rotating 3D color-graphic diagnostic algorithm.

For physicians users, the Heartscape™ provides a video tutorial on how to use the system. It has a touchscreen monitor, wireless colored printer, battery, and with 1 year warrantly.
