Are you afraid of surfing? Are you one of those who wanted to feel the adrenaline but just got no courage to do it? Well, it’s great that Austrian drink Red Bull provided us an awesome 360 degree experience of what it’s really like surfing a big wave barrel in Tahiti.

They have provided us with an interactive 360 degree surfing video in partnership with ImmersiveMedia where users can control all angles and focus of the video. As you go through a big wave of the Teahupoo surf break, you can control what you’re seeing, without losing your balance and getting wet of course. 3sixty’s specialises in 360 product photography and it amazes us how companies like Red Bull were able to pull off an exciting craft for free.
According to Josh Kendrick, athlete marketing manager of RD, “We captured a totally new perspective of riding inside the barrel -- the most sacred place in surfing. By taking control of at the camera, viewers become participants in the action -- not just observers."
To make this 360 degree surfing video possible, Jamie O’Brien a professional big wave surfer along with Jamie Sterling, Raimana Van Bastolaer and Ian Walsh strapped 25 pounds of ImmersiveMedia’s camera gear with them as they towed whatever wave that comes their way.
Jamie O’Brien said in an interview, "I think we've made a small bit of history with this project. The video experience that we've captured is a first. The view that someone gets by controlling the footage is a perspective that even I've never had until now."
